Archipelago Academy: Cohort 1

Archipelago Academy
News

Bringing together the brightest and best teams building solutions within the Circular Economy into a collective learning environment to build best practice around impact and ESG has been something of an achievement for Archipelago, and we’re delighted to announce that the Archipelago Academy is officially open!

Our Spring 2025 in January saw game-changing technology companies come together in our first cohort, including:

Sorted – low-cost AI enabled robotics to build better sorting of waste materials

Evoralis – enzyme development platform finding solutions for recycling of textiles and composite plastics

Matoha – flexible AI-backed textile identification solutions to enable sorting, resale and recycling of textiles

DEScycle – deep-tech low-energy metals recovery to avoid virgin mining and hazardous waste processing

Pinovo – closed-loop sandblasting solution for ocean infrastructure and shipping to avoid microplastics entering marine environments

Scrapp – waste management tracking, data and solutions to reduce waste at scale

Marinatex – agricultural & fisheries waste-based materials to avoid virgin plastic in food packaging

Alps Biosciences – biological engineering working to convert waste to green fuels

Archipelago Academy is a programme of learning, sharing and building networks. Our guest speakers for this first Cohort included:

@Claudia Amos – on how to build an impact roadmap that grows with you

@Mark Goldsmith – on how to consider ESG at the early stages of a startup’s journey

@Jamie Walters & @Rob Hemsley – on the pitfalls and lessons learning on their journeys to Series B and beyond

@Scott Leonard – on the common problems facing startups closing an early-stage funding round

The day ended with an evening of investor-networking, introducing our cohort to Archipelago’s network of aligned VCs, family offices and strategic CVCs, building connections and giving our cohort a platform to promote their young companies.

This first Academy day kickstarts our learning and support programme, which will continue later in the year.
